HARARE-The number of people infected with Covid-19 in Zimbabwe has risen to 160 after nine returnees from South Africa, two from Botswana and two local residents in isolation centres were tested positive for the virus on Friday.
In its daily Covid-19 report dated 29 May 2020, the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) revealed that a total of 11 COVID-19 cases were detected from 2 346 RDT screening tests and 420 PCR diagnostic tests that were done on Friday.
The statement reads: “Eleven (11) cases tested positive for COVID-19 today. These include 9 returnees, Botswana (2) and South Africa (7) and 2 local cases who are all isolated.
”Today 2346 RDT screening tests and 420 PCR diagnostic tests were done. The cumulative number of tests done to date is 46 613 (26 753 RDT and 16 860 PCR).
To date the total number of confirmed cases in Zimbabwe is 160; recovered 29, active cases 127 and 4 deaths since the onset of the outbreak on 20 March 2020.
