President Mnangagwa Fires Mutodi


Harare– President Emmerson Mnangagwa has fired Deputy Minister for Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Energy Mutodi.

This was revealed in statement on Wednesday by Permanent Secretary, Presidential Communications Office of the President and Cabinet, R Chikowore.

The statement reads: “Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr. M. J. M. Sibanda has, announced the termination of the employment by His Excellency the President, Cde E.D. Mnangagwa, of Dr. Energy as Deputy Minister of Government in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services. The which is with the immediate effect, is in terms of Section 108 (1a) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe (Amendment No.20) of 2013.”

On Wednesday, Mutodi mocked MDC-A female activists, Joanah Mamombe, Netsai Marova and Cecilia Chimbiri, who are currently in the hospital, alleging that they were not abducted and tortured but they had gone out to make love in Bindura where they were  injured by their lovers who are artisanal miners following a misunderstanding with them.

“Details emerge MDC youths Joana Mamombe, Netsai Marova & Cecilia Chimbiri went out for a romantic night to Bindura with their lovers who are artisanal miners. They parked their car at a police station for safety but tragedy struck when they demanded foreign currency for services,”  he said on a Twitter post.

The trio were allegedly abducted, s_xually assaulted and tortured after they had staged a flash demonstrations on Wednesday in Warren Park last week.

Recently, he also  mocked the President of Tanzania, John Magufuli for his country’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
