ECG leader Prophet Shepherd Bushiri on Saturday visited, interacted and cheered the elderly people at Ekhakana Elderly Home in Durban, South Africa.
Through his Shepherd Bushiri Foundation (SBF), Bushiri shared the word of encouragement with the elderly and also donated electronics, groceries and food items.
Ekhakana Elderly Home is an institution that takes care of the elderly who are homeless, have not traceable family and once lived as destitutes. According to the facility manager, the home has over 75 elderly people.
In his speech, Prophet Bushiri underlined that the greatest gift he brought to the elderly was not materials he brought, but the show of love. According to SBF, their calling is to ‘Love So Others Can Live.’
“In my country, Malawi, old age is a crime. No one takes care of them. We accuse them of witchcraft. We accuse them of being responsible for evil things in our communities. What we forget is that old age is a fulfillment of God’s promise to humanity.
“God’s idea to humanity was that we should all live our life to the fullest. He didn’t want us to die at our young age. He wants us to live until the time we become old and, instead of dying, we must just go home,” said Bushiri.
He added: “Whatever we are doing today is just to assure you that we love you and we will always be your children. We want to appreciate you for raising us and also for being our great parents.
“My Shepherd Bushiri Foundation team will be on the ground to find out on how best we can build a long lasting relationship with you, our parents.”
The facility manager Bishop Mkhize hailed Bushiri for the donation. The event included officials from MEC and also traditional leaders.
