Former leader Robert Mugabe’s body will be taken to the National Heroes Acre on Sunday befitting procedures of all national heroes before his family takes over proceedings for a mysterious traditional private burial.

Addressing the media at Rufaro Stadium today the family spokesperson Leo Mugabe reiterated that Mugabe was a chief, and would be buried as one in accordance with tradition.
“On Sunday will go to heroes acre where government will officiate the necessary procedures for burying a national hero.
“There after the family will take over the body for a private ceremony and will be buried at heroes acre at a date to be announced.
“Tradition leaders did not pronounce their decision and it’s normal when a chief dies not just announce his burial,” he said.
Leo Mugabe reiterated that chiefs ultimately held the final decision were his Uncle would be buried.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s visit to the Mugabe family at the blue roof residency yesterday exposed tensions and pending disputes between the Mugabe family and his administration over the late leader’s funeral arrangements.
Mnangagwa yesterday held a one on one private meeting with Grace Mugabe which failed to resolve the issue over the late leader’s burial proceedings.
Revelations emerged that mysteries, and the secrecy surrounding former President Robert Mugabe burial were emanating from strained relations with his successor Mnangagwa.
Mugabe died a bitter man enraged by the manner he was deposed from power by a military coup in November 2017.
The former leader is said to have left instructions to be buried at his rural homestead following the fallout with successor President Mnangagwa.
Sources close to his family suggest that the state is going hold a mock burial at National Heroes Acre then later on his body will secretly be laid to rest at his rural homestead in Zvimba were some traditional Chiefs want him buried.
