Zimbabwe Citizens Forum (ZCF) on Wednesday in Harare controversially labelled August 16 MDC opposition protestors, Civic society and human rights activists as pawns being manipulated by the United States of America to front regime change.

ZCF national coordinator Alex Gakanje alleged that America was in cahoots with other powerful western nations to uphold ‘illegal’ sanctions.

“We are having the MDC formation being funded by the Westerns.

“Our police and courts banned demonstration and they forced people in the streets to justify illegal sanctions.

“Imposing sanctions on our elected leader simply means they have an agenda of creating another leader, a decoy whom they fund and assist the same way they wanted in Venezuela,” said Gakanje.

Gakanje also condemned the opposition protestors demonstrating against the excruciating economic hardships for staging an ‘illegal’ demonstration hence deserved the unwarranted brutality by security forces for tarnishing the country’s image.

“As long as courts of law rule against  demonstrations there are illegal.

“If citizens are doing something illegal they deserve to be chastised the same way that you would handle a child when he or she is doing something wrong,”  he said.

Gakanje also accused Americans  for sowing seeds of divisions amongst citizens for imperialism purposes.

“Their purposes of financing divisions on the country is to cause confusion among brothers.

“If people are divided this Westerns will have the opportunity to illegally benefit from the resources of the country,” he said.
