Zimbabwean journalist, entrepreneur and spokesperson of South Africa based religious leader Shepherd Bushiri has released a single that deals with love and how men betray their spouses.
The single which he features one of his two wives, Boipelo Manyowa, Maynard Manyowa’s first single, Kumagumo which was produced by Tyfah Guni at Ice n Roses, details a story of a frustrated woman who, despite loving the husband and sacrificing, throws in the towel and leaves the marriage due to his infidelity
The gem, features Manyowa, the founder of Khuluma Afrika, an online-based publication, admitting to the lady, featuring the wife- Boipelo, to infidelity and apologising but at the same time giving in to her quest to end the blissful union.
It is a song telling the story of many women and their endurance in marriage but at some point they break down and leave despite the love.
“Love is meant to be a beautiful thing, especially when done right. But so many are broken in their homes. Sometimes as men, we just cascade from one day to another never really appreciating the gravity of the pain and hurt we cause to our partners, and how much over time, broken hearts can get gangrene,” Manyowa says as he describes the theme behind the song.
“Women do get fed up, and they do leave, and when they do, so much dies with you inside. Vakuru vedu vakati, ukarambwa nemukadzi unoita rombe (our elders said when you get ditched by a woman you become miserable),” Manyowa stated
As a young prolific writer, Manyowa said he takes music as a hobby and the song was done as a dedication to her late aunt.
“To Tsungai, i have fulfilled my promise to you, to stand tall, strong, and record one song after your painful demise. I don’t how far i will take this hobby, but thank you for urging me to start this journey. I have always been a story teller, as a journalist, reporter, cricketer, public relations bloke, etc, music is just but one other way of telling a story,” he says
