MDC Alliance has vowed to defy it’s late founder Morgan Tsvangirai’s family who requested people not to bring political party regalia at his memorial service.
Addressing journalists at a press conference, MDC Alliance spokesperson Jacob Mafume said they would wear whatever they want.
“Soon after May day we are going to have a memorial of our icon Morgan Tsavangirai, we are going to attend that in full force.
“we are going to be wearing what ever we want to wear, whether it is party regalia or it is not party regalia, as you remember Morgan Tsvangirai is the founder of the MDC, he is red inside his blood, inside his grave and he is red in heaven where he is.” he said
Mafume said there were people who were still carrying scares because of being associated with Tsvangirai.
“We are the family of Morgan Richard Tsvangirai, his family is the MDC, they were beaten with him, they died with him, they lived with him.
“Some of us are carrying his scars of being part of Morgan Richard Tsvangirai’s family,” Mafume said.
Mafume said Tsvangirai’s family had no demarcation
“The family has no demarcation, the whole of Zimbabwe, the MDC and everyone who died in his name, wearing his T-shirt. Everyone who was tortured wearing the MDC T-shirt is Morgan Richard Tsvangirai’s family,” he said.
