A Marondera man who is in trouble after he rammed into Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga’s motorcade last November will know his fate on May 5.
Denis Chiwawa who was dragged before Harare magistrate Ramaboa on allegation of negligent driving after he allegedly hit Chiwenga’s lead car while driving in Harare will have his judgement read out on the said date.
State prosecutor Isheunesu Mhiti alleged that the accident occurred on November 23, 2018 when Chiwawa was driving his Toyota Corolla along Samora Machel Avenue due West.
It is alleged, Pepukai Chimire who is employed by the President’s office was driving a Toyota Gilux Revo due South along Glenara Road. He was driving as the lead car escorting Chiwenga.
It is alleged that at the intersection of Samora Machel and Glenarah Road, traffic lights were green in favour of vehicles along Glenara Road due South and red to vehicles along Samora Machel Road. Court heard Chiwawa did not stop as he drove against traffic.
Resultantly, his vehicle rammed against Chimire’s vehicle on the front passenger seat.
Prosecution also said he was speeding.
Chiwawa denied the allegations in his defense he is saying it was Chimire caused the accident instead.
