MDC Alliance has completed 11 provincial Congresses ahead of the main Congress.
Addressing journalists at a press conference in Harare MDC Alliance national spokesperson Jakob Mafume said the Youth and Women’s Assemblies also conducted similar processes.
“The MDC has completed 11 provincial congresses.
Delegates elected provincial leaders and submitted their nominations for standing committee positions.
The youth and women’s assemblies also conducted similar processes nominating members of their respective management committees,” he said.
Mafume said the party would convene provincial caucuses where the delegates will discuss policy,ideology,institutional and constitutional reform.
“Each provincial congress election was presided over by an independent over by an independent commissioner in line with principles set out in the party constitution.
“The following are the results of the Provincial Congresses:

He said the gathering would receive reports,take stock of the past five years adopt resolutions on policy,programming,party Constitution and ideology.
“A national congress will be held on the 24 of May in Gweru.

Mafume said separate congresses will be held for the Women and Youth.
“Finally an independent commission will elect the party’s national leaders to hold office for the next five years.
“Separate songresses will be held for the women and youth respectively, resolutions from these gatherings will feed into the main congress.
“The gatherings will also elect their leaders from a list of those nominated by provinces,” he said.
