Meteorological Service Department (MSD) has dismissed rumor circulating on social media that there is an impending Cyclone reportedly changing direction with strong blowing wind accompanied by heavy and extreme rainfall expected to hit Zimbabwe again.
In an interview with Mail&Telegraph, MSD said they are not expecting any imminent Cyclone to hit Zimbabwe as what was circulating on social media platforms.
MSD urged people not to be affected by a wave of panic which is prevailing on social media pertaining to the second Cyclone and they will notify people if there is any heavy rainfall preparing to visit Zimbabwe.
“Its not true, there is no another impending Cyclone, people should not listen to the rumour circulating on social media about the second Cyclone. If there is any cyclone to be detected approaching Zimbabwe , we will let people be aware of the danger,”MDS said.
The department also said that the formation and trajectories of the cyclone can be detected , and if they are detected they promise to post on their Facebook Page and warn people.
“Formation and trajectories of the cyclone are detectable , so people should not take heed of what they get on social media but should check on our Facebook Page for true information,” MSD said.
Social media has been awash that Cyclone is preparing to come in Zimbabwe very soon following the recent Cyclone Idai which devastated the eastern Zimbabwe and resulted in the death of many people and destruction of infrastructure.
