Cabinet has called for an in-depth investigation in public hospitals following fire outbreaks that have destroyed property.
Addressing journalists at a post cabinet briefing, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting acting Minister Sekai Nzenza said the trend was growing.
“Cabinet expressed concern over the growing trend of outbreaks of fire at government health institutions and called for an in-depth investigation into the causes of the occurances,” She said.
She said Government will also refurbish public hospitals throughout the country.
“Furthermore, cabinet resolved to carry out targeted refurbishment of the strategic public hospitals throughout the country in order to improve health service provision,” she said.
Senior doctors at Parirenyatwa have been demonstrating as they felt that government was not paying attention to them, saying that they needed basic equipment and medicines in order to do their job.
