A N. Richards employee together with three other accomplices have been dragged to court on four counts of theft after they allegedly stole groceries worth over $4 000 from supermarket.

Kelvin Tagarika (24), Petros Mutogo (24), Tobias Mlambo (32) and Nickwell Furangi (34) appeared before Harare Magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa facing theft charges and are out on a $100 bail.

The matter was remanded to March 20.

State prosecutor, Linda Gahadzikwa alleged that Tagarika who is employed by N Richards and during the period extending from February to March this year, connived with the gang to steal from his employer.

In pursuance of their plan, the quartet would loot groceries from the shop specifically rice, sugar and flour.

Mutogo, Mlambo and Furangi were captured on the CCTV taking the groceries.

On the first incident they allegedly stole 10x20kgs of flour, the second time they took 20x20kgs of sugar and the numbers of the products they allegedly stole got bigger as they braved in their plan.

The court heard that Tagarika is the one who issued the other three with fake receipts to use in the shop and he would go to the door and pretend to be the security officer ton checking the receipts to ease the exit of his accomplices.

The goods they stole are worth $4 642.81 and after their arrest their made indications to the police leading to the recovery of goods worth $1 613, the court heard.
