Cyclone Idai is currently preparing to hit Zimbabwe and Mozambique with intense rainfall, storm and flooding this coming weekend, Storm Report Live said.
Storm Report Live posted on its Facebook page giving a warning to citizens of both Zimbabwe and Mozambique about the probable imminent extreme rainfall and flooding which are likely due to the impact of cyclone Idai.
The cyclone is expected to result in landfall near Beira most probably on Friday.
“If you are going to find your self in Zimbabwe or central Mozambique this coming weekend, please be aware that extreme high rainfall and flooding are likely due to the impact of cyclone Idai. It is expected to make landfall near Beira on Friday,” the post reads.
Speaking to Mail&Telegraph, Minister of Lands, Agricultural and Rural Resettlement, Hon Perence Shiri said it is always good for people to be aware of this impending cyclone but they should not panic because it may change its trajectory.
“Yes, I heard that there might be a cyclone this coming weekend, but is not an obvious fact that Zimbabwe will experience an extreme rainfall, its not certain, its just an assumption. Probably, the heavy rainfall might come but people should not panic about it, it’s just an assumption and it may also change its trajectory, but it is also good for them to be aware,” he said.
