ZRP tightens recruitment policy

Harare – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has tightened its recruitment policy by including mathematics at ordinary level together with other five O levels for one to join the police force.
This is part of the new restructuring exercise and would mean that all those who had applied and were on the waiting list are scraped.
In a statement, Police Spokesperson Charity Charamba said anyone wishing to join the force must have five O levels with a pass in English and Mathematics as well as be below the age of 22.
“Potential police recruits are required to be aged between 18 and 22 years old and be in a possession of a minimum of 5 Ordinary level passes which include Mathematics, English Language and Science attained in not more than two (2) sittings. In addition, an applicant should have a good background with no criminal record and go through the whole police internal selection process, ” Charamba said.
The police said it inundated with enquiries on recruitment and some false messages were circulating on social media platforms purporting that the organisation will soon embark on a recruitment drive.
“The police wishes therefore to advise members of the public and those who had conducted interviews and had put on the waiting list that the recruitment policy been amended with an immediate effect. In view with the new recruitment policy, all applicants on the waiting list have been suspended with and they will not be put into consideration for police recruitment again.
The police us undergoing a restructuring programme to meet international standards and these include constitutional changes to its name and organogram.
It has streamlined its command structure and removed some posts and changed its training curriculum.
“Members of the public are advised that future recruitment exercise will be advertised in both the print and electronic media when the need arises. Potential applicants will thus be invited to contact recruitment offices whenever there is a pending exercise.”
