I am not a criminal says Tendai Biti

In his application, Biti also said he also announced official results which were first posted outside polling stations by Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).
Tempers flew high when Mangudya told Biti that during his tenure as Finance Minister (2009-2013) he also signed loans that had no parliamentary approval as required by the constitution.

Harare – MDC Alliance Vice Chairperson Tendai Biti has described his conviction and sentence as a plot by Zanu PF to silence the opposition saying he would challenge the decision at the High Court.

Biti was fined $200 by Harare Magistrate Regional, Gloria Takundwa, for illegally announcing that MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa had won the of July 2018 elections way before the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission  had announced the official results.

But Biti said the conviction and sentence was a plot to cow him into silence against the Zanu PF regime.

“I am absolutely innocent, l am not a criminal. We will be appealing against that”.

He described the Zanu PF leadership as cruel saying they were against opposition.

“Our country has been captured by very dangerous people and l think, in Emmerson Mnangagwa, we have a very unstable person at the helm of our country.

So l think that it will be so critical for the leadership of our party, Advocate Nelson Chamisa who is here and for everyone who is in the leadership to guard our people against a very unstable, the predatory person in the form of Emmerson Mnangagwa,” Biti said.

“It is unacceptable what is happening we won’t accept that and we keep on fighting, “ he said

However Zanu PF said Biti should live with his actions of his consequences.
