Harare – Zimbabwe’s former finance minister, and MDC Alliance Vice President Tendai Biti has been found guilty of contravening the electoral act. He faced two charges, one of announcing the results and declaring Nelson Chamisa as President.
Biti was charged after the violent August 01 protests that turned deadly. The protests followed his announcement and declaration that Nelson Chamisa had won the election. Shortly after the protests, Biti fled the country to Zambia, where scuffle ensued at the border.
In an interview with this publication, Biti did not provide a straight answer on why he fled the country.
