Harare – The Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) has officially announced that the 2019 edition will not take place due to economic and social problems facing the country.
Using a micro-blogging site, twitter, HIFA said the annual arts jamboree which normally takes place between April and May will this year not be there as the economy bites.
“HIFA confirms the 2019 edition will sadly not take place. Zimbabwe is dealing with many important issues, both social & economic. In this context, HIFA cannot responsibly commit to presenting a feasible & viable event of the same equality & impact that HIFA is known for this year “, read the twitter post.,
(HIFA) is classified as the one of Africa’s best international festival of arts which was established by Manuel Bagorro and dates back to 1999 and brings together various artistic works under one roof for a week.
Its draws many from various countries and offers a platform for budding and veteran artists to share experience and talent.
