Harare – A member of the Zimbabwe National Army has been dragged before a Harare magistrate court facing two counts of robbery after he allegedly ganged up his accomplice to rob money changers getting away with over $1000 USD.
Noresr Nyasora(29), and his accomplices Tichaona Sorera(27) and Mafeking Tagara (24) appeared before Harare Magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa facing two counts of robbery
The state represented by Sebastian Mutirwa opposed bail.
The state alleges that on January 30 at around 1700hours, the trio hatched a plan to rob foreign currency (money changers) dealers at Zengeza Shopping centre.
They allegedly approached one Chinomona and told him that they wanted to change their money into USD. The gang advised Chinomona that they would return the following day after they had sourced the money.
The following day at 10:00 hours, the gang contacted Chinomona inquiring on his whereabouts and he was given the directions.
The gang, according to state papers met with the forex dealer at ZESA offices in Zengeza 2 Chitungiza andp got into their vehicle before driving away.
Whilst in the car, they made small talk with Chinomono confirming the day’s rate for the USD before they told him that he was under arrest for illegally dealing currency.
The gang flushed camouflage regalia as a way of instilling fear in him.
The trio assaulted Chinomono several times, searched him and took USD$1 300, $400 Bond and ZAR50 which was on his person before pushing him out of the vehicle.
