Flamboyant businessman and ZIFA board member Chamu Chiwanza splashed $2000 United States Dollars gift on equally flamboyant afro-pop sensation Carlos Green’s birthday bash held at Bar Rouge in the capital on Thursday.
Chiwanza was the guest of honour and he was part of entrepreneurs and socialites who made a stampede to spoil the VMV band leader who turned 31.
Socialites who also splashed big figures include Diva Domasi who forked out $1000 USD, Boss Mtangaz, $500USD and others who refused to be identified.
Carlos Green’s manageress Precious Nyandoro better known as Gugu said the monetary value of the presents totalled to $5000 USD.
“Well, we appreciate the love and support that we got from friends, family and fans, it was a big day for Carlos and he was overwhelmed with joy, he did not expect such a large turn out and support.
“He received a lot of presents in cash and kind and I can safely say he got $5000 United States Dollars in cash among other presents.We thank all the artistes who came through and we value and treasure their support.It gives us the strength to keep making music,” said Gugu.
Entertainment was provided by Romeo Gasa and extra Valembe band, Baba Harare, Stunner and several unheralded artistes.
They all gave stellar performances that kept the capacity crowd on the dance floor.
The venue proved to be small as people came in large numbers.
Andy Muridzo was scheduled to perform but he sent representatives apologising for hios no-show due to ill health.
Master of Ceremonies was MC ndombele alongside Mama Gain.
Other notable faces who graced the occasion include Jah Prayzah’s spokesperson Keen Mashapaidze who was in the company of Dual Sim.
Carlos Green started of his career as a rapper and often likened to Stunner but he later changed to Afro-Pop after getting advise from long time friend Jah Prayzah.
He has managed to adapt in the new genre where he has staged shows with Jah Prayzah and impressed.
He has three album to his name namely Smart Journey,Waiziva and Next Page.
He assembled his own band called Vane Mari Vauya (VMV) and has has done collaborations with Roki , Killer T and Andy Muridzo among other artistes.
The flamboyant musician is slowly gaining ground and has great potential to make mark in the cut throat music industry.
