Bulawayo-South African giants and former African champions Orlando Pirates arrived at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo airport in Bulawayo on Friday afternoon for their CAF champions’ league group stage opener with FC Platinum which is set for tomorrow.
The potentially explosive match had to be moved from the initial venue Mandava stadium after CAF condemned the Zvishavane stadium.
The Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic coached side come for the match hyped up from Their Tuesday night win over Chippa United.
They are in a bullish mood.
Zimbabwean international Kudakwashe Mahachi who has been in inspirational form in the last two encounters, coming in from the bench is part of the team that travelled to Bulawayo.
The last time Orlando Pirates played in Zimbabwe was in 1997 when they dispatched former cup kings Caps United by a 3-1 aggregate.
Meanwhile addressing the media at the sidelines of their training session on Friday, FC Platinum gaffer Norman Mapeza said they are not under pressure going into the match
“It’s a massive game for me as a coach and also for the players, we in the champions’ league group stages which are the apex of African football. I hope come tomorrow at 5pm we will be talking of good news (a win). We are more than ready for the match, we have prepared for the day and the boys are ready.
