Foreign Affairs minister Sibusiso B Moyo has returned to work after being hospitalised for months after he was diagnosed of a kidney related ailment.
Moyo’s family announced that he was recovering at home last month following speculation that his health was deteriorating.
The retired major general’s wife, Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo expressed concern over what she called “false” media reports after a local publication ran a story saying that her husband’s health was deteriorating.
“The family of Dr. Sibusiso Busi Moyo, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, is concerned with a report published by an outfit called Bulawayo 24 on November 24, 2018, insinuating that the Honourable Minister has suffered deteriorating health. Contrary to the said report, Dr. SB Moyo is recuperating at home and recently attended a reunion event of St. Augustine’s High School, a school where his wife is an alumni.
“It is our humble submission as a family that media organisations and individual journalists must always observe their ethical obligations and not only verify, but also be sensitive to the privacy of their subjects, especially on personal matters such as health.” Justice Matanda was quoted as saying.
Moyo fell ill two months ago before being hospitalised at Avenues clinic where he underwent a medical procedure.
Retirement major general Moyo came into the spotlight after he announced [Operation Restore Legacy’ which led to the resignation of former President Robert Mugabe in November 2017.
He earned himself the nickname General Bae after female citizens admired his booming voice and diction when he made announcement of the military intervention,.
