Zimbabwe's Finance Minister, Mthuli Ncube hinted on the introduction of new currency

Minister of Finance and Economic Development Mtuli Ncube has on Thursday appointed new board members for the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) after government fired the previous board in October this year.

The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting announced that the board would be chaired by Callisto Jokonya.

“Minister of Finance  Mtuli Ncube has appointed a new ZIMRA  Board; – Callisto Jokonya (Chair) – Josephine Matambo (Vice Chair) , George Guvamatanga , Isaac Kwesu, Memory Nguwi , Dr Moris Bekezela Mpofu,” the ministry announced.

Zimra management has been reporting directly to Treasury from the time the last board was fired.

Zimra senior management had since been directed to cease all recruitment of new personnel until a new board takes over.

The new Zimra board will succeed the previous 10 members who were appointed on June 26, 2015.

Mrs Willia Bonyongwe was the Zimra board chair while her deputy was Mr Percy Toriro.
