Breaking: Mnangagwa expresses reservations over Chivayo Gwanda project

President Emmerson Mnangagwa took a swipe at the judiciary system as he expressed his reservation over businessman Wicknell Chivayo’s recent court victory against the Zimbabwe Power Company over the $200 million Gwanda solar Project.

While addressing delegates at the annual Zanu PF conference in Esigodini Mnangagwa said he does not understand how the courts work.

Mnangagwa said he read the papers saying that Zesa  (ZPC) must pay the contractor $25m when there was no work done.

“I don’t understand how our courts work,” Mnangagwa said.

Mnangagwa’s sentiments follows Chivayo’s successful l,$25 million lawsuit in which the High Court absolved him from any wrongdoing and ruled that the contract still subsists and ZPC is liable to pay him $25million in damages and breach of contract.
