Ngezi FC has dismissed the rumours circulating on social media that the team has appointed Highlanders FC gaffer Erol Akbay as their new manager while at the same time making it clear that the team is not in any discussions with former warriors coach Iran Gorowa.
Several coaches have been linked with the vacant managerial post at Ngezi FC after the sacking of Tonderai Ndiraya.
Ngezi Platinum FC sacked Ndiraya when the team was five points behind FC Platinum blaming him for failing to win the championship during his two year tenure at the club.
The team’s spokesperson Jeremiah Gasitene told Mail and Telegraph that the team is not in contact with any manager as of now.
“All these speculations are because there is a vacant place here at Ngezi. The truth is we are not in touch or in negotiations with any manager as of now. The Gorowa and Arkbay news are all not true,” he said.
Gasitene said the team will appoint a head coach by the start of the season. “We will make sure that we will have a coach soon. The truth is by the start of the season we will be with a new coach,” he said.
Ngezi Platinum FC finished second to the 2018 champions FC Platinum.
