Harare – PHD founder Walter Magaya has apologised for claiming that he had found the cure for HIV. He admitted that he had prematurely made the announcement without following due process according to the law of the land.

Addressing journalists in the presence of Health Mminister Dr Obadiah Moyo on Thursday, Magaya acknowledged that he had ‘jumped the gun’.

“We have engaged the Ministry. I carry an apology to them and the public. Having carried the research from outside the country, I went on to announce the results unprocedurally. I apologize once again.”, said Magaya.

Earlier the ministry of health permanent secretary Gerald Gwinji had told Parliament that they allow new discoveries but there was need for due proccess to be followed.

Gwinji said Magaya did not follow due process when he unveiled his Aguma herb, which he claimed could cure the virus which causes Aids.

“We do not want to quash any new discoveries or innovations, but they have to go through the right processes so that issues of safety are assured,” Gwinji said.

The herb was reportedly selling to as much as $1000.
