Harare – A 40 year old man was shot dead in the capital Harare this morning after a heated dispute over a parking spot, police have confirmed.
A 24 year old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting, while four other man have been arrested for inciting the violence.
According to police, the 24 year old suspect, who is yet to be named, parked his vehicle at the corner of Kwame Nkurumah Avenue and Angwa Street. The man left two of his sisters in the car and proceeded to conduct business in the city’s central business district.
5 men are said to have approached the vehicle and demanded that it be moved. The remaining occupants then telephoned the driver of the vehicle who returned.
According to the police statement, a scuffle ensued and the driver pulled out a pistol and fired a shot that killed the 40 year old man.
A mob that had gathered then set the vehicle on fire.
